The East African Coast

Sandy beaches by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean

"Sun, Sand, Sea...13 months a year.”

The Kenya Coast stretching from Lamu in the north to Vanga in the south is a place steeped in history, yet at the same time a fascinating coastal resort. The true heart of the Kenya coast is found in the exotic old towns, among the narrow winding streets and Arab architecture. The air here there is always heavy with the scent of spices.

The streets are alive with the bright colours of the traditional coastal Khangas and Kikoy, the all purpose wrap around cloth worn by both men and women. The Kenya coast is where all are welcomed and quickly absorbed into this great coastal melting pot. Mosques, Hindu Temples and Chris- tian churches surround streets that thrive with a world of cultures.

The East African coastline in Kenya & Tanzania is tropical paradises….the perfect spot to un-wind, relax, recharge and be happy!

Mombasa is the Gateway to Kenya's warm, sandy Beach Resorts in the award-winning Diani Beach in the south, big game fishing in Malindi & Watamu in the north, Lamu Island – a historic UNESCO World Heritage site and the cosmopolitan Island of Mombasa itself.

The Tanzania Island of Zanzibar can be described as the ancient Island also known as the spice Island of the Indian Ocean – just over 20 miles from the East African Coast. The Island has an area of 640 miles with a coast of long white sandy beaches that slope gently into clear blue water, contrasting well with the abundant greenery of the interior.

The history of Zanzibar dates back to the last century with famous missionaries, explorers and traders who visited the Island. The Island was also the epi-centre of slave trade on the East Africa Coast in the 18th Century until the trade was abolished in 1873.

The different races that settled in Zanzibar over the century have left their mark on both the people and the architecture. Castellated buildings with arches are Moorish in origin, the simple stucco work in the Persian baths reminds one of the former Persian princes, and as one walks through the cool narrow streets of the old Stone town of Zanzibar you admire the Arabs brass-studded old carved doors.

From World class Beach Hotels and Resorts to Rustic Eco Lodges and Beach Cottages, the east Africa Coast is the ideal spot for a perfect coastal retreat and exciting adventures.
